Seashell-Shaped Jade Pendant

Length 3.23 cm, width 2.7 cm, thickness 0.63 cm

Made of tremolite jade, the artifact is white with a bluish tint and a warm, delicate texture free of impurities (though a small amount of copper rust adheres to the back). It is a seashellshaped round carving with a convex front and flat back, smoothly rounded lateral edges, and four shallow, toothlike protrusions at midheight on each side. A vertical groove runs down the center, flanked by fourteen symmetrically arranged shallow grooves, and a small hole at the top is designed for stringing as a pendant. The artifact is finely polished and holds significant historical, artistic, and scientific value for studying the jade processing techniques and the bronze civilization of the ancient Shu people in the Chengdu region during the Shang and Zhou dynasties.
