Frog-Shaped Gold Foil

Dimension: Length 6.9 cm, width 6 cm, thickness 0.05 cm.

Crafted in gold, this sheet-like foil presents a patterned abstraction of a frog. The triangular head with its pointed peach-shaped mouth and paired circular eyes transitions into a geometrically stylized lozenge-shaped body without a defined neck. There is a central dorsal ridge runs along the frog back, while the convex abdomen follows the curvature of the limbs, terminating in symmetrical tapered tips. The frog four limbs are slender with a short pointed tail and its forelimbs arching backward and hindlimbs sweeping forward, creating cloud-like opposing curve patterns.  Flanking the dorsal ridge, symmetrical linear bands extend to the limbs, framing a row of precisely spaced raised dots that create a beaded texture. This cultural treasure carries great historical, artistic, and scientific value, providing crucial physical evidence for studying goldworking craftsmanship, the bronze civilization and religious beliefs of ancient Shu people during the Shang-Zhou dynasties in the Chengdu region .
