Gold Mask


  Unearthed from Pit No. 5.,this is the heaviest gold mask discovered at Sanxingdui.It features a narrow face, crescent-shaped eyes, with a straight upper edge, a pointed triangular nose, a long hollow mouth, and perforated ears. and perforated ears. The left side of the mask is largely missing, including parts of the forehead, eyebrow, eye, mouth, and jaw, while the right side is better preserved, though the forehead, eyebrow, and part of the eye are damaged. The mask's style closely resembles other gold masks previously unearthed at Sanxingdui. According to excavators, it may have been placed over a bronze head or a mask made of another material.
