Unearthed from Sacrificial Pit No. 2, the blade end of this Jade Zhang turned chicken-bone white due to exposure to fire. This Jade Zhang is one of the most representative and exquisite jade artifacts from Sanxingdui.
Both sides of the artifact bear identical carvings, symmetrically arranged in two sections. Each section consists of five groups of motifs. The bottom group features two mountains, each with a tooth-shaped Zhang inserted at its side. The second group depicts three kneeling human figures wearing dome-shaped hats and double-looped earrings. They are dressed in sleeveless short skirts and their hands clasped in front of their abdomens
The third group consists of geometric patterns, while the fourth group features two mountains with a slightly boat-shaped symbol between them. Beside the mountains, a figure on the outer side of the mountains pressing their thumb against the mountainside in a fist. The uppermost group showcases three standing figures side by side, wearing flat-topped crowns, bell-shaped earrings, and sleeveless short skirts, with their hands posed similarly to the kneeling figures below.
Based on the presence of mountains, inserted Zhang, and figures in a ritual posture, this scene is generally interpreted as a grand ceremonial depiction of "mountain worship" rituals.
